KABUL: A deadly car bombing had been foiled in Kabul days after Islamic State’s, also known as Daesh claimed responsibility for a suicide attack in Kabul that killed seven people.
The terrorist group said in a statement Sunday that its four fighters targeted the Telecommunications Ministry on Saturday. Afghan officials said a suicide bomber struck outside the ministry, clearing the way for four other gunmen to enter the heavily guarded compound in central Kabul.
General Command of Police Special Units (GCPSU) have thwarted a terrorist plot which was planned to be conducted in Kabul by the terrorists during overnight operation in Surobi district of Kabul, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Monday.
Terrorist planned to carry out a car bomber attack by using a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, the ministry added.
During operation, the GCPSU have seized two rocket launchers, one PK machine gun, one AK-47 rifle and 350kg of hashish.
In a separate report, GCPSU also arrested a man over allegedly have links to Daesh terrorists group in Bagrami district of Kabul, the statement underlined.
The Daesh terrorist group has carried out several attacks in Afghanistan in recent years, targeting civilians in public, even in shrines and mosques.
