Whatever might be its outcomes but countrymen irrespective of their political views, ideologies and communal identities are attaching great hopes with the consultative Loya Jirga going on at Kabul. President Ashraf Ghani seem too much isolated as almost major politico-religious groups and popular individuals are on boycott but some of the leading analysts and political experts are optimistic about its positive outcome but some others term it ‘useless exercise’ amidst scores of hurdles and problems. So far group consultation and scrutiny of issues is in progress and the groups likely to come up with solid proposals and suggestions for overcoming all these issues ahead to the country. Most focus likely to be emphasized through these proposals and recommendations regarding making fruitful the peace process. The US special representative Dr. Khalilzad has toured Islamabad whereas he like of past was once again assured by Pakistan’s helpless and powerless political leadership of “sincerely helping the peace process.” But on the eve of Dr. Khalilzad’s arrival at Islamabad on previous Monday, Pakistan army spokesperson has accused Afghanistan for helping and patronizing the indigenously established Pakhtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM), which is demanding safety and security to Pakhtoons in according to Pakistan’s constitution. Such allegations aimed nothing else provoking the terrorism and extremism hit Pakhtoons as well as deteriorating already tense relations between Kabul and Islamabad. However, on concluding his talks Khalilzad is hopeful of getting complete his task with help of Pakistan and other stakeholders. And similar are the views of President Ghani and Prof. Abdul Rab Rasool Sayaf from the consultative Loya Jirga. Analyst Ghulam Jilani Zwak has diverted attentions towards a video released before the Loya Jirga delegates which according to him might provoke anti-Taliban sentiments. He said that at this stage government and Jirga leaders needs to take steps aimed at cementing steps and actions for the promotion of reconciliation and understanding amongst the Afghans. Similarly, he said for earning hearts of Taliban, a non-controversial leader might be better to lead the consultative jirga proceedings. Another analyst Abdul Ghafoor Liwal, has termed it a positive step, adding composition of jirga was balancing as people from different walks, especially women and youth got due representation as delegates and members of working groups as well. Liwal said participants have shown maximum enthusiasm towards return of peace and reconciliation as they have been made fed up by prolonged wars and hostilities. Khoshal Khalil, has termed very successful, positive and fruitful the first day proceeding whereas maximum participants have made voices for peace. Almost of delegates and participants have termed convening of the Consultative Loya Jirga too much late but believe it doesn’t matter if the leadership demonstrate sincerity towards return of peace, end to every sort of hostilities and end to terror. It is the time for the delegates to propose ways and means not only for return of peace, tranquilities and stabilities but also for ensuring sovereignty and solidarity of the war ravaged motherland.
