KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) on Sunday announced punishment for traffic rule violators in Kabul, the capital city, where traffic-jam is a daily rotten.
In a statement, the spy service said the number of vehicles had increased, causing traffic jams in the nation’s capital.
It said the Kabul Municipality recently removed all squares in the city and installed traffic signals. The NDS called on citizens to follow the traffic rules and warned offenders of being punished, Pajhowk reported.
The statement added that traffic police had created some mobile teams to arrest those violating the traffic rules in Kabul. The offenders would be initially fined.
If the violators continued to disregard the relevant laws despite their biometric identification, they would have their licenses cancelled and could be sent to jail.
Traffic rules tighten in Kabul while across the country several road accidents were witnessed which is deadly for the passengers.
At least six people, including four children, were killed Sunday when a passenger vehicle plunged into water in southern Helmand province.
Muladad Tabagar, the Greshk district administration chief said the incident happened in the Awbashk locality of the district Sunday morning.
