KABUL: Assadollah Saadati, runner-mate to Abdullah Abdullah in the September presidential race, claims that President Ashraf Ghani was making provincial governors busy in campaigning for him. Ghani is one of 18 hopefuls for presidency.
He said Sunday that Ghani was extraordinarily using government sources and has illegally opened campaign offices for himself.
“The extraordinary use of the government sources is being done and provincial governors nowadays are campaigning as well as there are some new appointing in government,” he said.
Meanwhile, a council combined of the presidential candidates, discussed election boycott on Saturday that relates to President Ghani’s continuing of term.
Shahab Hakimi, one of presidential candidates said that they discussed different dimensions of the boycott that how to prevent a fraudulent election.
President Ghani’s office, however, said that the president issued two decrees that ban use of government sources in personal campaigns.
From the other side, reports say about tensions among candidates that could lead to another crisis.
These candidates rejected a request from President Ghani to hold a meeting in the presidential palace, saying they would meet Ghani outside the palace.
