AT-KABUL: At least three tons of drugs were set ablaze in central Parwan province, said the Interior Ministry on Wednesday.
The director general of the counternarcotics department at the Interior Ministry, Abdul Khalil Bakhtiar, said the drugs included heroin, hashish, opium and alcohol. He added that around 200 tons of drugs were torched countrywide this year and at least 2,030 detainees were introduced to judiciaries on charges of drugs smuggling.
Recently, a report revealed that drug addiction has increased in Afghanistan and the reason is that addicts have easy access to drugs. Same is in Parwan, as a number of its officials and residents said that drug addicts can easily buy drugs from some certain areas in the province.
