KABUL: At least 67 militants have been killed and seven others received injuries in multiple extensive military crackdowns conducted by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security official said Monday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktia, Takhar, Urzgan, Herat, Ghazni, Khost, Logar, Faryab, Balkh, Helmand and Nimroz provinces, in which 67 militants were killed and seven others wounded.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, 46 Taliban fighters killed in Ahmad Abad and Zazi Aryob districts of Paktia—eight militants killed and three others wounded in Baharak district of Takhar and six insurgents killed in Samkanai district of Paktia province.
Similarly, two rebels killed in Shindand district of Herat—two militants killed and four others wounded in Khas Urzgan district of Urzgan—two insurgents killed in Andar district of Ghazni and one militant was killed in Deh Bala district of Nangarhar province.
In past 24 hours, several planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army soldiers, including strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
The ANA also discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition during operations.
