KABUL: Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Sunday said that at least 40 Taliban militants were killed and 18 others wounded during operations conducted by the Afghan security forces in different provinces during the past 24 hours.
The MoI said in a statement that 21 Taliban terrorists were killed in a joint clearance operation carried out by Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) backed by Afghan Air Force in Posht Rud district of the western province of Farah.
Four militants were killed and three others injured in two separate operations carried out by Afghan National Police (ANP) in Laghman and Nangarhar eastern provinces, added statement.
Statement said that seven Taliban terrorists were killed and four others wounded following a clash with ANP in Kateli Manda region of Qalat city in Zabul province.
Similarly, eight insurgents were killed and 11 others injured while a group of Taliban attacked security check posts in Sayed Jan village of Qalat City, underlined statement.
