KABUL: At least 66 militants were killed and 26 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said on Sunday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Badghis, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Parwan, Nangarhar, Logar Nimroz, Zabul and Helmand provinces, in which 66 militants were killed and 26 others wounded.
Moreover, Afghan forces succeeded to arrest 16 militants during operation and handed them over judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During operations in the past 24 hours, 19 insurgents were killed and 4 others in Bala Murghab district of Badghis—14 militants killed, 18 wounded and eight others arrested in RaShidan, Dehyak, Muqor, and Washez districts of Ghazi—nine insurgents killed and another wounded in Rashistan and Jurm district of Badakhshan—seven Taliban fighters killed in capital of Parwan—five rebels killed and some amount of weapons and ammunition destroyed in Achin district of Nangarhar province.
Similarly, four militants were killed in Barki Barak district of Logar—four insurgents killed and eight others detained in Khash Rod and Delaram districts of Nimroz—three rebels killed and another injured in capital of Zabul and one insurgent was killed and two others wounded in Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand province.
In past 24 hours, 24 planed clearing operations, and 76 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 17 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
