KABUL: Ghazni residents on Friday expressed anger over security deterioration in their province, asking for a concrete effort to improve security situation.
According to them, the province would be fail again if steps have not taken to improve security.
Shah Mohammad, the resident of Ghazni province, said the Taliban daily attacked forward check-posts of Ghazni City.
“Last year the Taliban attacked forward check-post but official took those attacks lightly and one day the Taliban and security forces fighting reached police headquarters,” Pajhowk Afghan News quoted Shah Mohammad as saying.
He said security situation has deteriorated if steps not taken Ghazni could fall again.
Esmatullah Jamradwal, the Provincial Council member, said besides Ghazni City security situation deteriorated in districts as well.
He said the district capitals of Andar, Gero, Zanakhan, Rashidan, Khogyani, Waez and Ghaghato’s had been transferred to other places due insecurity.
He said deteriorated security situation made the common people worried and rumors regarding the fall of Ghazni province circulating among people.
Commenting over public concerns on security situation, Governor Wahidullah Kalimzai said the Taliban cannot overrun Ghazni province as they did not have the capability.
“Taliban always spread fear among people and forged propaganda warfare,” he said.
Kalimzai claimed security forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban in different parts of the province during recent clashes.
It is worth mentioning that after Kunduz and Helmand, Ghazni is the most insecure province of the country where most of the time clashes between the Taliban and security forces take place.
