KABUL: At least 28 militants were killed and seven others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Saturday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Logar, Herat, Ghazni, Helmand, Urzgan and Nangarhar provinces, in which 28 militants were killed and seven others wounded.
Afghan forces also arrested one militant and handed him to the judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During operations in the past 24 hours, eight insurgents were killed and one vehicle was destroyed in Kharwar district of Logar—seven militants including Mullah Abdul Mateen Khadam, Taliban shadow district governor for Oba district were killed, seven others wounded and another was arrested in in Oba and Zir-Koh districts of Herat—seven rebels were killed, 1 motorbike and amount of weapons and ammunition were destroyed in Andar, Giro and Qarabagh districts of Ghazni—two Taliban fighters were killed in Marja district of Helmand province.
Similarly, two insurgents were killed in Khas-Uruzgan district of Uruzgan and two militants were killed in Khogyani district of Nangarhar province.
In past 24 hours, 13 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 16 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
