KABUL: Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday says it will announce the preliminary result of presidential election on 14th November that was set to be announced on 19 October but delayed due to further transparency.
“We will never sacrifice transparency for speed,” Chairwoman of IEC, Hawa Alam Nuristani said in a press conference.
“Considering all issues, operation steps and commissioners’ views, the IEC has made decision to set 14th November as a new date to announce preliminary results.”
We are committed to impartiality and transparency and will defend from each votes of the candidates, Nurstani told newsmen.
After being failed to announce initial result on 19 October, she apologized from the nation, terming technical problems behind it.
The IEC said efforts to ensure further transparency in the process and unprofessional behavior of some of the observers of the electoral teams, who caused disrupting in the process for several times over the past several days after polling day, were the main factors that caused IEC delay the announcement of preliminary result and set new date (14th November).
