KABUL: Ongoing clashes between Afghan security forces and the Taliban rebels have been continue for two days in northeastern Badakhshan province, in which nine security forces have killed so far.
Deputy intelligence director for Nunsi district of the province was among the nine security forces killed during clashes with Taliban insurgents.
Nek Mohammad Nazari, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban have been staging attacks on the district for the past two days and clashes were still underway.
He said nine security forces including an intelligence operative had been killed and eight others wounded in the ongoing firefight.
The Taliban also suffered causalities in the ongoing clashes but he had no exact figures, Nazari said, adding reinforcements had been dispatched to the area to push back the attacks.
Eyewitnesses and residents of the district told Pajhwok that a number of security forces were killed and wounded during clashes with militants.
