AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The production capacity of Ghori Cement Factory is dwindling as the factory is faced with lack of electricity for past week, said officials, criticizing the government for inattention of local products.
Chief Executive of Afghan Investment Company, Islamuddin Ahmadzai, said the president has several times stressed that would support and improve local firms and products as well as increase cement production in the factory, but the only cement production factory is now on the verge of collapse due to power shortage.
He said the main reason behind the issue is that the factory has not paid electricity bills for past several months which worth Afs123 million.
He told Bakhter News Agency that the factory produced 400,000 tons of cement on daily basis but it has declined at much extends and it would be stopped in upcoming days if the situation prevailed.
Terming the cement as best in the region, he said they succeeded to produce more than one million cement bags this year which most of them were sold in Kabul and southern provinces.
Head of Ghori electricity company, Ghulam Hussain Haidari, said the factory which works under the Afghan Investment Company is indebt more than Afs123 million.
He added that the decision to cut power of the plant has been taken by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) directorate and the governor of Baghlan province.
A number of critics believe that the government should prioritize supporting of national firms as they can lead in improvement of Afghanistan’s economy.
