KABUL: At least 33 militants have been killed and 18 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said Wednesday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Kandahar, Nangarhar, Farah, Urzgan, Zabul, Ghazni and Herat provinces, in which 33 militants were killed and 18 others wounded.
Afghan forces succeeded to arrest one rebel and handed him over to related judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During operations, eight insurgents were killed, two others wounded and two hideouts destroyed in vicinities of the province capital of Kunduz –eight Daesh affiliates killed, one detained, some amount of weapons and ammunition, 300 kg narcotics drug and 11 kg explosives seized in Achin and Chaparhar districts of Nangarhar –four militants killed and five others wounded in Jawand district of Farah –four militants killed, amount of weapons and munitions, 350 kg explosives were confiscated, five hideouts and five communicating tunnel destroyed and 12 rounds of IEDs discovered and defused in capital area of Uruzgan province.
Similarly, four Taliban fighters were killed and two others wounded in Arghandad district of Zabul –three insurgents killed and two others wounded in Muqur and Ab-band districts of Ghazni and two insurgents killed and six others wounded in Shindan district of Herat province.
In past 24 hours, 15 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army including 17 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
