KABUL: Members of parliament called on the government not to threaten political and human rights activists and stop pressure on them.
The legislatives said Monday that the government was responsible to investigate murders of political activists.
They said the government needed to protect the lives of political activists and investigate murder attempts against them instead of seeking pressure ways on them.
Wahid Mojda, a political activist was killed some two weeks ago by unknown gunmen in Kabul, in a recent attempt against the freedom of speech and political activists.
Killing of Mojda sparked vast reactions inside and outside the country.
The lawmakers also criticized the election commission for postponing announcement of presidential election results, calling it a shame.
The members of parliament claimed that the government was making efforts to silence freedom of speech.
They said that delay in result announcement had affected people economically.
The lawmakers also said that Taliban representatives’ visit to Iran was against diplomatic norms.
