KABUL: Tens of supporters of presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah launched rallies against what they called “fraud and corruption” in the provinces of Jawzjan, Parwan and Panjshir.
The protesters repeated Wednesday, Abdullah’s demand of invalidation of 300,000 polls that he claims are not people’s real votes.
They accused the independent election commission of fraud, saying they would continue demonstrations if their demands are not met.
General Abdul Rashid Dostum who sides Abdullah this time, said in a message that he would defend people’s rights and votes.
Demonstrations by Abdullah’s supporters have been continuing for the past days in the northern provinces where he enjoys support from powerful men like Dostum and Mohammad Mohaqiq.
Protesters in Jawzjan threatened to think of tougher pleasures if the election commission didn’t pay attention to their demands.
