Khalilzad, Atmar discuss peace progresses

KABUL: The US envoy for Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad met former national security adviser Haneef Atamr in Qatar, discussing recent progresses on peace process.

Khalilzad is in Qatar for peace negotiations with Taliban representatives.

Atmar gave up running for presidency in the September 28th elections, but did not announce support of any candidates.

Atamr’s office said Sunday in a statement that the two sides discussed peace progresses. It added that they emphasized on violence reduction and intra-Afghan dialogues.

Atmar according to his office, called the US role important and decisive in the Afghanistan peace.
