KABUL: Although the longest decades of war in Afghanistan has made the Afghans to overlook the practical holidays and ceremonies, a number of families in western Herat province have came together to celebrate the “Yalda Night”- the longest night of the year and an ancient holiday in Afghanistan.
The celebrators have gotten together and chanted ancient and local folkloric stories till the arena of the joyful night. They have prepared several domestic fresh dry fruits.
In addition to Afghanistan, the “Yalda Night” is celebrated in Tajikistan and Iran in the two neighboring courtiers of Afghanistan as all of them were part of the ancient Arianna.
According to some sayings, the celebration is gone back to over five centuries prior to birth of Christ.
The people live on that time, wanted to end the longest night of the year with parties, amusements, singing, and chanting of fictions.
Ahmad Ghani Khisrowi, an instructor at the Herat University said that Herat families have revived the night and the ancient cultural practice with the astonishing napkin.
Cultural ceremony including Nawruz, Mehargan and Ulda night are belonged to the ancient years.
