KABUL: Afghan security forces have killed at least eight fighters affiliated with the Taliban group on Friday when the Taliban fighters attacked their checkpoints in northern Kunduz province.
Provincial governor spokesman, Esmatullah Muradi said that offensive was triggered when a group of Taliban militants launched an attack on security forces checkpoints in Qahwa Khana area outside the provincial capital Kunduz city.
In retaliation, the security forces killed eight of the Taliban fighters, he said, adding other Taliban militants fled the scene.
Three policemen were also wounded in the offensive.
