KABUL: The assassination of commander of Iran’s Quds forces, Qassem Soleimani by US forces in Baghdad, have created high concerns about the possible damages to the peace talks- which is currently under discussion by US-Taliban officials in Qatar.
The international relations experts believe that Afghan government should keep its impartiality through diplomatic ways in the ongoing chaotic relations between US and Iran.
A political analyst, Mohibullah Sharif said, “The assassination of commander of Quds forces will affect the regional situation, economy and peace talks in Afghanistan, but not too much worry.”
Referring to the “Liwa Fatemiyoun”, the analyst vowed that Iran would not be able to take revenge from US in Afghanistan.
Another expert, Osman Kamran has expressed concerns about the possible sabotage of the peace process as Iran has repeatedly been accused of supporting the Taliban.
But, a former member of the Taliban, Syed Akbar Agha said that Soleimani’s assassination would not affect the Afghanistan’s peace talks and stability.
“It is impossible that Iran will seek revenge from US in Afghanistan’s soil,” he added.
Qassem Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike on Friday morning in Baghdad. US President Donald Trump has called him the killer of thousands of American troops in several countries, including Afghanistan. According to Trump, Soleimani was providing financial and logistical support to the Taliban group.
