KABUL: At least six Taliban’s “Red Unit” fighters were killed during Afghan forces ambush in northern Jawzjan province, officials said Monday.
Two others were wounded in the ambush conducted in Khanaqa district of the province, the 209 Shaheen Corps said in a statement.
According to the statement, the killed insurgents belonged to Mawlawi Ahmadshah commander of the “Red Unit” of Taliban, who earlier was wounded during a clash with the Afghan security forces in Mangjak district of the same province.
Months ago, 12 Taliban’s “Red Unit” fighters were killed during air and ground operations in eastern Nangarhar province.
