KABUL: At least 54 Taliban militants have been killed and 29 others wounded in multiple extensive military crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces across the country in the past 24 hours, security officials said on Wednesday.
Ministry of Defense in a statement said that the Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Uruzgan, Kunar, Helmand, Kandahar, Nangarhar and Ghazni provinces, in which 54 militants were killed and 29 others wounded.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations, 18 insurgents were killed and 10 others wounded in Chora, Khas-Uruzgan districts and Khanaqa capital related area of Uruzgan—12 militants were killed in Mohmand Dara district of Nangarhar—10 rebels were killed and three others wounded in Trang, Sokay and Noor Gul districts of Kunar—seven militants were killed, eight others wounded, one vehicle, two motorbikes, one ammunition and weapons cache, seven hideouts of the enemy destroyed in Sangin, Musa Qala, Nahr-e-Saraj, Nawa and Lashkargah.
Similarly, five insurgents were killed and four others wounded in Khakrez and Maiwand districts of Kandahar and two rebels were killed and four others wounded in vicinity of the capital of Ghazni province.
In past 24 hours, 16 planed clearing operations, and Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air Forces conducted aerial operations supporting Afghan National Army, including 21 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
