KABUL: Local officials in northern Balkh province said that the Taliban rebels have shot dead eight civilians in Sholgara district of the province. The civilians had been earlier abducted by the Taliban in Nahar-e-Surkh village of Sholgara, said provincial police spokesman Adelshah Adel.
A woman and a child are among the victims, according to the provincial intelligence department.
The Taliban group has not immediately commented in regard.
This comes as earlier the militants had opened fire on a tribal elder and then cut his head in northern Takhar province.
The Taliban, who are engaging in peace talks with the Afghan government, in their back 1990s regime, were running a violent anarchy on the Afghan people.
