AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Russian ambassador in a meeting with the second deputy to the chief executive officer of Afghanistan said that Moscow is eager to sign a security agreement with Kabul.
The Russian ambassador in Kabul, Alexander Mantytskiy, called on Mohammad Mohaqiq and briefed the latter on the assistance provided by Russia to Afghanistan.
According to a news report of the Independent News Pakistan, a news agency, the Russian ambassador said that Moscow had provided training to over 300 Afghan security personnel since 2010 in Russia, and is preparing ground for training of the Afghan interior ministry personnel as well.
He said that in addition to providing 63 MI-17 helicopters to Afghanistan, Russia would also train Afghan pilots in line with an agreement signed between Washington and Moscow.
The ambassador added that trade volume between the two countries had touched $966 million which is an indicator that relations between Kabul and Moscow are growing rapidly.
The second deputy to the chief executive officer thanked Moscow for its contribution and said that emergence of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Pakistan and Afghanistan is a serious regional threat. He said that regional support and world cooperation is required to get rid of the ISIS.
