KABUL: At least 58 covid-19 cases have been reported in the past 24 hours, brining the tally of the pandemic to 665 in Afghanistan with warning from health officials to take the virus seriously and observe the period of quarantine to help stop the wild spread of the epidemic.
13 cases in Kabul, 28 in southern Kandahar, seven in Helmand, six in Nimroz, three in Takhar and one in Kunduz provinces had recorded during the time, said Wahidullah Mayar, Spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health in a press conference on Monday. This time, Kandahar had the most cases, after the capital city Kabul.
He also talked about fatalities and recovery. “As of yet, 21 people died, and 38 patients recovered.” Unfortunately, the covid-19 epidemic is in upward mobility, so case can be increased, he lamented.
He once again termed people’s cooperation as the most vital way to fight the virus. “Only effective way to reduce the risk of the pandemic in the society is the cooperation of the masses.”
A doctor of Indira Ghandi (Children Health Hospital) in Kabul had died due to virus. Unfortunately, the sister of deceased doctor, who came from US—a country worst hit with the virus with thousands fatalities, also died, and was living in the late doctor’s house, the official said.
Several provinces are put in strict quarantine. Kabul governor has extended quarantine period to another two weeks to stop the spread of the virus.
