KABUL: At least nine civilians have been killed in Taliban’s powerful Humvee truck bombing on Monday morning in southern Ghanzi province.
It was around 4:00 local time when insurgents carried out bombing targeting a security forces facility near Saqafat Islamic Center in Ghazni city, said provincial governor office in a statement.
40 other civilians were wounded in the attack that claimed by the Taliban group.
Health conditions of eight wounded people have been reported to be critical, according to the statement. The bombing was too heavy that had shattered windows of nearby houses.
Taliban fighters in series of their crimes during holy month of Ramadan have killed civilians, Interior Ministry Spokesman Tariq Arian said. “Taliban car bombing on Saqafat Cultural Islamic Center has martyred nine civilians and wounded 20 others,”
Taliban rebels since beginning of Ramadan till now had conducted several suicide and terroristic attacks over hospital, funeral ceremony, public institutions and areas, in which tens of civilians were killed and wounded, he said.
Taliban group has assumed public responsibility for the attack, saying it was in response to President Ashraf Ghani’s offensive operation order.
President Ghani ordered Afghan security forces to halt defense posture and switch to offensive after several deadly attacks across Afghanistan, especially in Kabul, the capital city and eastern Nangarhar province that killed and wounded over 100 civilians, including new mothers and newborn babies.
