KABUL: A terrorist bombing wreaked havoc at a mosque in Kabul on Tuesday night, killing two worshippers including Afghanistan’s most revered clergies and injuring at least two others.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Imam of the mosque, Dr. Ayaz Niazi – a famous scholar in Afghanistan, was first injured in the attacked and later died in hospital of wounds.
A bomb went off in Wazir Akbar Khan mosque in 10th police precinct, Kabul city, at around 7:25pm in the washroom of the mosque with the same name, said Tariq Arian, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.
The attack on the mosque sounds the alarms of an escalating spate of terrorist activities inside Kabul city and a naked sort of brutality and violence against Afghanistan’s celebrated religious scholars and innocent civilians. Such heinous attacks are always condemned in Afghanistan.
