KABUL: A number of civil activists in Paktia province staged demonstration to protest the death of three Afghan immigrants allegedly by police shooting in Iran.
The “peaceful demonstration” was staged Saturday in the Orgun district, in which protesters condemned Iranian police’s “mistreatment” with Afghan immigrants.
They asked the government, particularly foreign ministry to break silence against Iran police’s violence.
Three Afghan immigrants died when their vehicle caught fire last week in Yazd province. Iran’s police were accused of shooting the vehicle after it didn’t stop at a checkpoint.
Afghan Ambassador to Tehran Ghafoor Liwal, blamed human traffickers for the incident, thanking Iranian people and government for hosting some three million Afghan immigrants.
After demonstrations in Kabul and some provinces against Iran police’s involvement in the death of Afghan immigrants, Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Liwal, conveying Tehran’s serious protests that could affect Tehran-Kabul’s relations.
Iranian officials say they would prevent any illegal traveling to their country, because such traveling are harmful for their national security.
