KABUL: It has been for two conservative days that Afghanistan has recorded a fewer cases of coronavirus, a significant milestone in the fight against the pandemic. 310 people were tested positive for the respiratory disease in the last 24 hours across the country.
The new cases came out of 889 suspected samples were tested during this period.
In total 29,143 coronavirus cases are registered so far with 598 deaths and 8,841 recovery since the outbreak of the virus started in the country.
12 patients died within 24 hours, Afghanistan’s health ministry said on Sunday. 77 patients had recovered.
According to the ministry, 166 positive cases registered in Kabul, 37 in Kandahar, 22 in Baghlan, 21 in Kunduz, 11 in Badakhshan, nine in Helmand, nine in Takhar, seven in Maidan Wardak, six in Zabul, five in Kunar, five in Bamyan, three in Nangarhar, three in Parwan, three in Ghor, two in Logar and one in Paktia province.
However, Kabul governor says the infected numbers are much higher than what ministry of public health has reported. The governor believes that one million Afghans are infected with the virus.
