KABUL: The government forces drove back a Taliban’s large attack in the northern province of Jawzjan, killing at least 32 assailants.
The ministry of defense said Tuesday in a statement that the attack was carried out on the army outposts in the Qarqin district, in which some 25 attackers were also wounded.
The ministry said that the attackers were forced back from the area after suffering big casualties.It did not give details about the army casualties.
Taliban did not immediately comment on the report.
meanwhile, ministry of interior said that Taliban fighters attacked police checkpoints in the provinces of Zabul, Logar and Ghor, but faced great resistance and were forced to retreat.
It said that 22 attackers including a commander of them were killed and 15 others injured.
The ministry said no casualties of police were reported.
