AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least five workers of ‘Save the Children’, a non-governmental organization (NGO) were kidnapped by unknown armed men in southern Uruzgan province, said official on Tuesday.
Pajhwok Afghan News Agency quoted Police chief of Trinkot city’s first district, Gul Agha, as saying that the NGO works were traveling to Surkhab district to monitor their project when they were kidnapped by the gunmen.
He said the organization was working on a project that provided potable water to Surkhab residents.
He added that Police had launched investigation to locate the employees.
Spokesperson for Save the Children, Zubaida Akbar, said that five employees were missing in Uruzgan province but she did not provide more details in this regard.
The police chief blamed the Taliban militants for abducting the employees but the Taliban militants have not commented regarding the incident yet.
