AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: An official in Da Afghanistan Brishna Sherkat (DABS) said that they were setting up emergency power lines to supply 170 percent electricity to Kabul in next two days.
Wahidullah Tawhidi, spokesman for the DABS, said that they were working to set up three emergency power lines to supply 170 of 300 megawatt electricity to Kabul. “Repairing the main lines will take at least three weeks due to chilly weather and difficult terrain,” he added. He said that they currently produce 120 megawatt power through hydropower plants and diesel generators.
“The three emergency lines along with the 120 megawatt electricity will reduce blackouts by 80 percent,” Tawhidi went on.
Heavy snowfall cut power lines in Salang area of Parwan province and Baghlan province. The power lines supply electricity from Tajikstan and Uzbekistan to Kabul.
Despite having enough potential for production of hydropower, Afghanistan imports most of its required electricity from its neighboring countries in the Central Asia.
