KABUL: The Attorney General Office said that it has prosecuted 31 staffers who were charged with administrative corruption during one last year.
The AGO said in a statement on Tuesday that these staffers included prosecutors, and other employees of the office, who were detained on charge of corruption, especially taking bribery.
“39 suspects detained in connection to frauds,” the statement reads. “24 prosecutors, directors and other employees of the office and 15 others belong to other administrations.”
The AGO has appointed agents in the administrations in Kabul and other provinces across the country to report the administrative corruption in the government offices.
This comes as the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan in a statement earlier called administrative corruption a great challenge against peace and stability in Afghanistan and urged the Afghan leaders to prioritize the counter corruption managements.
UNAMA has presented some development offers to the Afghan government regarding the improvement of the judicial system of the country.
The offers included, implementation of a permanent strategy for countering corruptions and formation of a counter corruption commission, empowering of law enforcement, monitoring and empowering of public management.
