AT-KABUL: A drone strike killed seven Taliban militants in eastern Nangarhar province the other night, said an official source.
A spokesman for Nangarhar’s police chief, Husain Mashriqiwal said that a US drone strike targeted a group of militants in Mach Megi area of Lalpoora district of the province killing seven insurgents including their commander.
He identified the commander as Nazir Afridi and said, “The killed militants were involved in subversive activities in different parts of the province.”
Some local officials in eastern Afghanistan believe that drone strikes are effective in war against militancy as they don’t let insurgents to roam in groups.
