KABUL: Afghanistan’s chief peace negotiator, Masoom Stanekzai, said the Taliban must accept ceasefire if they are committed to end violence.
Stanekzai tweeted Tuesday that “the horrific attack on young students of Kabul University displays the stigma of disgrace marked on the brows of terrorists who brought shame to humanity”.
He reckoned all terrorist attacks in Afghanistan have one origin but with “different facades”.
“If the Taliban are committed to end violence and stop massacring Afghan people, they must immediately accept ceasefire and cut off the hands of the enemies from the neck of Afghan people. No one can acquit themselves from such brutal killings,” he stated.
The demand for ceasefire come a day after a group of terrorists stormed the sprawling Kabul University campus on Monday morning and wreaked havoc by shooting at students and killing 22 people mostly students including female and wounded 27 others.
In the meantime, National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib visited the scene of the terrorist attack in Kabul University and also paid a visit to the wounded people in the hospital.
According to a statement issued by the office of the National Security Adviser, Mr. Mohib said that attack on culture, education and students is the most cowardly act and the Taliban cannot distance from the burden of this crime by giving a statement.
He said the Taliban are responsible for civilian casualties and killings of Afghans, they accept it or not, he said.
