KABUL: At least 35 Taliban rebels were killed and four others were wounded during the latest crackdown in the past 24 hours, defense ministry said Wednesday.
The 29 Taliban rebels were killed in an airstrike in Zherai district of southern Kandahar province, the ministry said in a statement. “The Taliban fighters had gathered and prepared to attack Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) positions, which were targeted in a preemptive operation.”
Six other Taliban rebels were killed and four others were wounded in counterattack by the Afghan security forces after they attacked their positions in Pashton Zarghoon district of Herat province.
