KABUL: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation called on the Afghan war parties to “seize the historic opportunity” to pursue dialogues for reconciliation and lay out a durable peace in Afghanistan.
The OIC in a statement on Tuesday said that Secretary General of the Organization, Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen cited the remarks through a virtual conference “Geneva” which is co-hosted by the government of Afghanistan and Finland.
The statement said that Secretary General reiterated the OIC’s support to the Afghan people in achieving a “comprehensive and lasting national reconciliation, stability and development.”
To reach a long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan and beyond, the organization said, “the decision and resolutions of the OIC Summit and the council of Foreign Ministers have called upon OIC Member States to support the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned inclusive peace and reconciliation process.”
From 23rd to 24th of November, an international summit was held in Finland, where the representative of world’s countries reiterated financial support to Afghanistan.
