KABUL: At least 24 Taliban rebels were killed and seven others wounded in the fight against the Afghan security forces in Khogiani district of eastern Nangarhar province, local officials said Saturday.
Provincial Governor Spokesman, Ataullah Khogyani said that the Afghan security forces carried out clearing operations in Zawi, Asman Kali and Malanoor areas of Khogyani. The security forces didn’t suffer any casualty, he said, adding that a car and some ammunition were seized in the operations.
Meanwhile, the security forces carried out a crackdown on criminals in the provincial capital city of Jalalabad, in which 14 criminals were detained.
Provincial Police Spokesman, Farid Khan said that these criminals were involved in robbery, drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
Nangarahar is among insecure provinces in eastern Afghanistan, where the Taliban and Daesh both are vastly active. For the past several years, the province has seen rounds of deadly attacks that killed and wounded scores of people.
