KABUL: Thousands of cases relating to violence against women have been evaluated by the Attorney General Office since the beginning of the outgoing Persian Year.
It said Tuesday in a statement that totally 2,290 cases of violence against women have been assessed that includes 259 cases of rape and 137 cases of murder.
It said that beating up, insulting and disgracing, harassments, self-immolation, suicide, forcing to prostitution and forced marriage were the other cases.
It said in a statement that beating up of women was the most of the cases registered.
“Kabul wit 814 cases of violence against women, Balkh with 430 cases, Herat with 303 cases and Takhar with 430 cases are at the top,” the statement said.
According to the statement, forced marriages, bigamy, forcing to addiction and forced isolation have decreased this year.
“Increasing of violence against women is due to increasing of opportunities of women’s access to justice.
