KABUL: At least 40 militants were killed and 15 others wounded during operations launched by Afghan security forces in Farah and Uruzgan provinces in the past 24 hours.
Taliban massively attacked Afghan security forces checkpoints in the Poshtrod district of Farah province, where their attack was pushed back by security forces, said a statement issued by Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Monday.
The statement said that during counterattack, 29 Taliban fighters including a commander Hajji Abdul Jabbar were killed and seven others wounded.
Some amount of weapons and ammunitions of the enemy also destroyed, added statement.
Similarly, Taliban planned to attack Afghan security forces but faced a security forces defensive operation in Gizab district of Uruzgan.
It said that 11 insurgents were killed and eight others wounded during the attack.
Also Afghan forces prevented a car bomb attack in Nirkh district of Maidan Warda province.
Taliban planned to detonate a car full of explosives in a crowded civilian’s area, which was identified and targeted before reaching to the goal by Afghan Air Forces, noted statement.
The statement said that Afghan forces by targeting the car loaded explosives succeeded to prevent killing and wounding of many civilians in the district.
