KABUL: Afghanistan has recorded 104 new cases of coronavirus and eight fatalities in the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Public Health on Friday.
The new infections reported out of 1,668 suspected samples tested during this time.
Eight patients have lost their lives to the virus and 329 others have fully recovered during the same period of time, according to the health ministry.
These cases were registered in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Balkh, Nangarhar, Kunduz, Nimroz, Badakhshan, Wardak, Badghis, Helmand, Laghman, Kunar, Ghor, Farah and Uruzgan provinces.
Afghanistan now has 53,935 total confirmed cases while the total deaths now stand to 2,336 across the country. Another 45,434 have so far recovered from the virus.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,996,505 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 93,201,362, according to Johns Hopkins University.
