KABUL: The parliament accuses President Ghani and the Taliban of trying to deny the facts about peace efforts, one with the aim of remaining in power and the latter for gaining power.
Parliament Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani said Sunday while opening a parliamentarian commission for peace. Rahmani said that the parliamentarian commission was appointed to discuss the leadership of reconciliation council as well as to travel to Qatar for talking to the Afghan negotiating delegation.
He urged that the people’s representatives need to be aware of the details of peace efforts and join the negotiations.
The parliament speaker said that the parliamentary team would evaluate the slow peace process and would share the facts with the people of Afghanistan which have been so far hidden by the government and Taliban.
The parliamentary team on peace would work to remove the existing impasse before peace efforts and seek proper ways to reach peace, according to Rahmani.
The parliament speaker reiterated lawmakers’ support for the peace process and reduction of violence to reach a lasting cease fire.
The parliamentary team for peace has 21 members selected from all 18 commissions.
