KABUL: At least 67 Taliban militants were killed and 44 others wounded in the recent crackdowns carried out by Afghan security forces in different provinces in the past 24 hours, officials said Tuesday.
Taliban planned to attack security forces outposts in the Arghandab and Dand districts of southern Kandahar province, but faced resistance by security forces supported by air forces, said a statement issued by Ministry of Defense (MoD).
The statement said that 25 rebels were killed and three others wounded in the districts.
Six strongholds of the enemy with one mortar and some weapons and ammunitions destroyed added statement.
The statement said that seven IEDs planted by the enemy to target civilians and military members discovered and defused by security forces.
Statement stated that 15 Taliban fighters were killed and 20 others wounded in Chahar Bolak district of northern Balkh province.
Two militants were arrested during operation as well, noted statement. Additionally a large amount of weapons of the enemy destroyed and five IEDs of them discovered and neutralized.
Similarly, 16 insurgents were killed and eight others wounded during airstrike in Imam Sahib district and Talawka area in center of northern Kunduz, mentioned in the statement.

Also 11 rebels were killed and 13 others wounded during crackdown by Afghan forces in Posht road district of western Farah province, underlined statement.
