KABUL: Nangarhar police have seized 33 packs of hashish during a search operation on Monday in Koat district of the province, officials said Tuesday.
Police intercepted the hashish from a private corolla car during a search operation in Forokhshakhil area of Koat district of the province when the traffickers were trying to smuggle them from the district to the city.
Five persons including three women were arrested in connection to the trafficking of the hashish. The case is under further investigation.
Nangarhar is one of the main hashish producer provinces of the country where farmers cultivate hashish in remote and insecure parts of this province.
Hashish are the most common narcotics, which are being cultivated and produced in the country after poppy. Hashish are widely used by Afghan men, particularly young generation throughout the country.
