KABUL: At least five of 21 people appointed by the government of Afghanistan to run the intra-Afghan talks with the Taliban militants, have reportedly left Qatar, where they have been engaged in discussing ways for peace since September.
Amin Ahmadi, Rassoul Taleb, Kalimullah Naqibi, Matin Baig and Habiba Sarabi have come home, according to sources close to the Afghan negotiating team who was speaking on condition of anonymity.
Nader Nadery, another member of the Afghan negotiating team had earlier said that Taliban negotiators did not participate in sessions for a long time.
The source said on Tuesday that Amin Ahmadi was forced to come back home as he had revealed some secret matters of negotiations.
Najia Anwari, spokeswoman at the state ministry of peace confirmed that a number of the negotiators are back, but rejected that their return would mean stop in the peace talks.
Meanwhile, Sayed Eshaq Gilani, leader of the National Solidarity, a political party, believes that Ahmadi was under threat in Qatar, so he had to come back home.
The intra-Afghan talks did not see noted progress with Taliban militants offering different conditions such as the release of thousands of their comrades held in government custody.
Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the high council for national reconciliation, says that peace negotiations are going on in Qatar, but admitted that there was no talk, accusing Taliban of not interested in peace.
