KABUL: At least 27 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 12 others were wounded in latest crackdown conducted by Afghan security forces in different provinces across the country in the past 24 hours, defense official said on Saturday.
The Afghan security forces conducted crackdown against militants in Arghandab, Panjwaee and Maiwand districts of southern Kandahar province, where nine of Taliban fighters were killed and six others wounded, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
Two motorbike of the enemy with some ammunition were also destroyed.
Sang Baba area of Mainwand district and Kandahar-Helmand highway to Dorahi Lashkaragah has been cleared from the enemy, the statement added.
Also, 67 IEDs, which were planted by the Taliban to target civilians and military members discovered and safely defused by Afghan security forces in Arghandab and Maiwand districts, the statement noted.
The Afghan Air Forces targeted a hideout of the enemy in Trinkot central of Urozgan provinces that killed seven Taliban insurgents, while four others were wounded.
Two motorbikes, three hideouts of the enemy with some weapons and ammunitions were also destroyed.
Similarly, eight Taliban rebels were killed and two others wounded during operation carried out by Afghan security forces in Shireen Tagab district of northern Faryab province.
Furthermore, three militants were killed and one detained during a crackdown conducted by Afghan forces in Gomal district of southern Paktika province, the statement concluded.
