KABUL: At least 16 al-Qaeda terrorists among 30 Taliban militants have been killed in latest raids conducted by the Afghan security forces in northern Kapisa province, officials said on Monday.
In a series of crackdowns carried out by Afghan security forces in Dara-e-Afghania area of Nijrab district of the province, at least 30 Taliban insurgents, including 16 Pakistani citizens, who were affiliated with al-Qaeda terrorist network, were also killed.
Six other rebels were wounded during an operation supported by Afghan Air Forces, the defense ministry said in a statement.
Enough weapons and ammunition of the enemy were also destroyed.
Hajian, Khalifagan, Zaker Khil, Kochak and Bada Khil villages of Dara-e-Afghania were also cleared from the enemy, the statement added.
Clearance operation is going on in the area, the statement added.
