Father of raped toddler seeks capital punishment for rapists

I will commit suicide in front of the Presidential Palace if my plea goes unaddressed, says Nooruddin

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Two-year-old Nilofar, who has no idea about ups and downs in life and her eyes are only familiar with toys which she plays with, became the victim of gang rape by three men in northern Takhar province six months back.

Her father, Nooruddin, says he wants capital punishment for those behind his heinous act. He was quoted by Radio Azadi, as saying that he is seeking justice for her girl for past six months but his plea has gone unnoticed so far.

“The Supreme Courte Directorate asked me to give Afs200,000 [nearly $3500] to proceed his daughter’s case,” he said. “I urge the president to kill me with my family. I don’t have the ability to pay taxi fare. How will I be able to pay this heavy amount?” he asked.

He said that according to Shari’a Law and the Constitution he wants capital punishment for those behind raping his daughter.

He also said that three gunmen sexually abused his daughter in Rustaq district of Takhar but no one notices his plight because the perpetrators are powerful men.

Nooruddin has spent several days in front of judiciaries and courts. He said one of the three men is Azizullah who is under custody.

He noted that his family was threatened by relatives of Azizullah since he has started seeking justice for his two-year-old daughter.

He said that he will commit suicide in front of the Presidential Palace if his demand was not addressed and if the men were not hanged.

Nooruddin has left Takhar to Kabul because of the threats he received from families of the three men. He blames judiciaries for not addressing his problems.

He said he loans money to pay taxi fare for visiting judiciaries.

In the meantime, spokesman for Attorney General Office (AGO), Basir Azizi, said those behind gang rape of the child are under custody and their dossiers have been sent to the Supreme Court for further proceedings. “The dossier of Nilofar has been followed up first in AGO office in Takhar and it has been sent to Kabul. We have sent the dossier to the Supreme Court and we are waiting for the court’s decision,” he said, as quoted by Radio Azadi.

However, Nilofar’s father urges the government to feel his pain and give exemplary punishment for those who have committed the atrocious act with his daughter.
