AT: KABUL: At least seven Taliban militants have been killed and eight others wounded in military operation conducted by Afghan security forces in southern Zabul province, said a local official.
Zabul police chief, Ghulam Sakhi Roghlewanai, said that security forces have conducted a large-scale offensive against the Taliban militants in Atghar, Mizan, Daichopan, Nawbahar, Shamlzai and Khak-e-Afghan districts of the province around six days ago.
He said that security forces have killed seven militants, wounded eight and detained four others in the operation so far.
He said that the operation is still going on. Roghlewanai stressed that security forces were committed to clear the districts from presence of the Taliban.
“Two bomb blasts on vehicles of Afghan forces during the operation killed two soldiers and wounded another,” he said.
