KABUL: The parliament criticizes continued acting in President Ghani’s cabinet, calling for an end to this process as it expands corruption.
The members of parliament said in their Wednesday session that the acting ministers are illegally occupying the posts as they were found unqualified by and failed to secure vote of confidence from parliament. They said that acting ministers would help expansion of corruption in government offices.
They blamed President Ghani for not fulfilling his promise to introduce new persons as replacement for those rejected by the legislators.
The lawmakers also criticized Ghani for dismissing some of ministers that took vote of confidence from parliament without any reason.
Ghani fired ministers of finance and interior without explaining the reasons.
“The government and the president violate the law regarding introducing of nominee ministers. The president should introduce new people as replacement of those nominees who could not get confidence vote,” Mamoor Ahmadzai, a member of parliament said.
Parliament Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani, said that running government by acting people removes transparency and expands corruption.
“This is against the law. We call on the government to respect the constitution and end acting ministers,” he said.
Ministries of culture, women’s affairs and rural rehabilitation as well as the Central Bank are led by acting heads.
